Join the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) as a Rehabilitationist (Speech Therapist or Hearing Therapist) and make a meaningful impact in the lives of cochlear implant and auditory implant users. You will have a unique opportunity to further your career by using your clinical skills within a University setting allowing you to access up-to-date research in this field. This is a maternity cover post, so the position is for up to 12 months at 0.8 FTE (28 hours per week). As a Rehabilitationist, you will play a vital role in helping patients adapt to and optimise their auditory implants. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll provide specialist rehabilitation, guiding patients through their hearing journey. Your key responsibilities will include: Delivering tailored rehabilitation programmes for cochlear and bone conduction implant recipients Assessing patient progress and adjusting therapy strategies accordingly Providing education and support to patients, families, and caregivers Collaborating with audiologists, rehabilitationists, and other professionals to enhance outcomes Contributing to research and teaching opportunities within the university setting What We’re Looking For Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with an interest in working with deaf people, or a Hearing Therapist’ HCPC or equivalent professional registration Strong communication skills and a patient-focused approach Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team Closing Date: 09 Oct 2026 Section: Education, Research & Enterprise Salary: £36,636 to £58,225 Per annum Part Time Fixed Term for 12 months
